The hair removal procedure itself is very straightforward. You will lie on a treatment bed and make yourself comfortable. As a safety measure, you’ll be asked to wear some protective eyewear, which the practitioner will also wear.

A thin layer of transparent, cold gel (similar to that used in ultra sound) is applied to the area so that the laser is able to move over the area with ease. The laser practitioner will then run the laser head in a sweeping motion over the area 6 to 12 times like a paint brush. It fires tiny bursts of energy 10 times a second, slowly and gently heating the hair follicles. You will feel the area warming slightly but at the same time the patented Dual Chill treatment tip keeps your skin cool and comfortable.

Depending on which part of your body is being treated, the skin may go slightly red. Treatment times vary depending on the person and the area being treated. It can be as quick as ten minutes, depending on what treatment you’re having.

Most patients experience a comfortable warming sensation during treatment, similar to receiving a hot stone massage. The Soprano Titanium Laser hair removal may become mildly uncomfortable in sensitive areas.

A course of 6-8 treatments should result in a permanent reduction of hair growth for the vast majority of clients. A good responder will expect to see a 60-90% reduction in hair growth. PRECARE

Avoid the sun 2 weeks before treatment
Avoid bleaching, plucking or waxing hair for at least 4 weeks before treatment
Do not use depilatory creams 1 week prior to treatment
If you have a history of cold sores, Zovirax may be used prior to the treatment and continued one week after treatment
The use of tanning cream must be discontinued two weeks before treatment
Shave 24-48 hours before treatment
Avoid shaving on the day of treatment and avoid applying creams/ deodorant and perfumes

DURING TREATMENT

When treating the upper lip, the teeth may be protected with gauze. The gauze also serves to support the lip during treatment, allowing a surface to push against

Safety precautions are important during the laser procedure. The client and the operator will wear protective eyewear during the procedure

AFTERCARE

Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. Do not use any other hair removal treatment methods (waxing, electrolysis or tweezing) that will disturb the hair follicle at the treatment area for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Shaving is allowed between treatments
Shedding of the surface hair may occur anywhere from 5-19 days after the treatment, and this can appear as new hair growth. This is NOT new hair growth. You can clean and remove the hair by washing or wiping the area with a wet cloth or loofah sponge
For 24 hours after the underarms are treated, avoid deodorant and use a powder instead in order to reduce skin irritation
Avoid hot baths and heat treatments and treat the skin gently, as if you had sunburn, for the first 24 hours

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

We don’t give an exact number but sessions will vary from client to client . We would advise 8-12 followed by top ups.

HOW OFTEN ARE TOP UPS PERFORMED?

This is dependant on the client. After finishing their initial package of 8 or 12 sessions, some clients have top ups every 3/6 months or once a year.

CAN I SUNBATHE IN-BETWEEN MY LASER SESSIONS?

You must wait 2 weeks after your laser session to sunbathe and must avoid sun exposure for at least 48 hours before your session. Please avoid the use of sunbeds.

CAN I HAVE LASER IF I HAVE TATTOOS?

Yes , however, we will need to cover the tattoos and laser around them.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO LASER AROUND THE EYEBROWS ?

For safety reasons we are only permitted to laser in between the eyebrow and not around it as it is too close to the eyes.

CAN I HAVE LASER IF I AM PREGNANT OR BREAST FEEDING?

There is no scientific research that would back the theory of laser being harmful for a pregnant or breastfeeding mother, however, it is best to wait till after birth. We advise clients to wait 4-6 months post-partum to start laser so that hormones can settle.

WILL CERTAIN MEDICATION PREVENT OR AFFECT LASER?

Yes, you must inform your therapist of any medical changes or medication before or during your laser treatments.

LASERING PCOS CLIENTS

Excessive hair growth and hirsutism is common in PCOS clients , laser hair removal is a great solution for reducing thick, stubborn hairs. It is important to note that PCOS clients may require additional sessions.
