- Flat and may appear as discolorations or textural irregularities on the skin
- Atrophic scars- depressions in the skin, and may result from conditions like acne or chickenpox
2. Deep scars
- Extended into the deeper layers of the skin, often into the dermis
- More pronounced, appearing as raised, pitted, or thickened scars
- Common examples of deep scars include hypertrophic scars, keloids, and deep acne scars
